The other day I went to ECAL in Lausanne (Lausanne’s design academy) to see the space I’m gonna be using to put up a Pop Up design store in September during the designdays in Lausanne. It’s a cool building a little bit Mondriani inspired!
Walking around in the building I stumble over these wonderful lamps in the cafeteria. The “Moldlamp” is made by a former student Michel Charlot. They are made of eternit a composition of different fibers and concrete. I really loved the “installation” the fact that there are so many makes it very powerful.
The defects from the molding becomes the very nature of the object. The wholes makes the lamps come alive. The lampwalls aren’t thicker than handmade paper.
