I happened to be in Vienna, when their annual Vienna design Week was going on last week. I grabbed a program and tried to find some spare time between my meetings. One of the events I went to was at the dynasty Lobmeyr’s shop a glasscompany established in Vienna since the beginning of the 19th century.
They have collaborated with the engineering skill of industrial designer Michael Anastassiades and their own very well known glass. Out of this collaboration came this gorgeous series of “Captured” lamps.
It’s such a refine work between the two materials metal and glass and working with this Viennese company gives you a feeling of inspiration from Art Deco by the designer! Once lit the light is refracted by the crystal like “captured” inside the crystal ball!
Curious on his other work, I found these marvelous ceiling lights.
It’s not easy to find sofisticated lighting but Michael Anastassiades sure has succeded and will be in my reference book of excellent lighting from now on!
