Last night I went to the opening of the Oi-Phorique exhibition at Teo Jacob in Geneva. The famous Swiss trio of designers called Atelier Oi had done one of their installations. It’s an installation made in 3 parts, the movement, the effects of reflection and music.

The interesting part doing this kind of movement installation in a furniture store is the contrast with the immobile furniture exhibition within the store. And all of a sudden you enter this area full of movement, swirling, pumping etc.

Somehow the movement of the fabric makes you think of the Whirling Dervishes the Sufi dancers!

The movement is captured by the reflection in the mirrors. Atelier Oi says about the creation of this work “it’s not a form that we make with a drawing or design it’s a form that comes from the cutting of the material from it’s gravitation”

These long snake like lamps were constantly pumping in and out.

It is quite an interesting installation so if you have a chance to pop by the Teo Jacob store at Place Octroi, Geneva, don’t hesitate!
The Atelier Oi has done creations from IKEA to BB Italia and sets scenographic installations around the world.
These outside poufs for BB Italia called “Reel” came around after having done an installation based upon rope.
The same rope installation gave them the idea to these products at L’Atelier Pfister.
What I also liked about the evening was the great mixture of ages in the crowd!

I loved this table with the integrated drawing pad!
