Christmas and New Year often involves a lot of socializing and sometimes it would be great to be able to have a small retreat to go to. Perhaps a little bit of cocooning would we a good way to start the new year………….
The famous Alcove Work by the Bouroullec Brothers is a great way to escape your surroundings.
A furniture designed perhaps more for public spaces but I can certainly see it as a cosy corner at home.
The Pod chair designed by the British Benjamin Hubert for a Dutch furniture company. The felt is created from recycled PET bottles pressed into the mould.
I love this one “Remind” armchair by Carlo Columbo for Nube Italia. The leather work is beautiful.
A more barock version of an acoustique comfort chair “Queen” by the Italian company Smania.
An interesting way of closing out the world when you are sleeping.
These beautiful glass tiles makes you think of an igloo, at least it’s warm under the covers! Mattone Poesia is the producer of the glass bricks they get their beauty thanks to the collaboration with Venetian glass-workers masters.
However, where is it that you can get the most of intimacy if not in a cave! This project is called “The Bears Cave” by the architect Paul Coudamy for the office of an Internet company in Paris.
Cool. Dedon has some ‘cocoon space’ outdoor furniture that is very inspiring as well. The Alcove Work chairs are used in the public atrium of the Corus Quay project
The chairs are in pairs to create ‘meeting rooms’ for two people; the idea behind the chair choice is that acoustic privacy is more important/desireable than enclosed physical space for everyday meetings. I guess that’s public cocooning!
