Wabi -Sabi

By Malin Miller on December 17, 2012

No I’m not talking Sushi and you haven’t clicked on a food blog;  this is a Japanese term for a decorating  style that is becoming more and more popular between interior designers.

It stands for beauty in imperfection. Wabi means rustic simpleness, purity and low key elegance, Sabi is the beauty of the patina an object obtains after a certain time.  For example in this setting you have impair numbers 3 lamps. 5 photos in a row, the used leather in the chairs.

This style is not to be mixed up with Shabby Chic, which is often a room overfilled with objects and therefore lack of space and harmony.

Wabi Sabi is a  style using natural materials that brings us harmony connecting us to the earth.

It’s about using your home by creating areas of well being like this little cosy reading corner.

Making your own still life!

Another characteristic of W.S. is asymmetri, simplicity, austerity and natural objects.

Nature being one of its main components.
