Whitepod Hotel

By Malin Miller on January 21, 2013

On my list of a weekend escape is this unique Hotel experience up in the Swiss mountains (Valais region) 1 700m. It’s a collection of eight “igloos”  placed in the middle of nowhere i.e. there is no village just nature surrounding them. The adventure begins as soon as you park your car  10min. away from the site  and the only access is then by ski or snow shoes!

The canvas changes colour depending on season in winter white and in summer green so it completely melts in in its environment.

The interior is all furnished either by antique finds around the area or recuperation. Every pod has a simple wood burning stove that keeps you nice and warm.  Water is from a close spring.

There is a main house where you can take in some great food and socialize.

Every pod sits on a raised wooden platform (so you don’t freeze your butt off!!)

A great story of this hotel is  that the owner Sofia de Meyer used to work as a Lawyer for an English firm but decided it wasn’t her thing and came up with this beautiful idea! Let’s do more of that in 2013  Believe in Ourselves!
